Abstract

The history of Romanian neurosurgery and the evolution of ideas in this field are inextricably linked to the evolution of the brain chronography process in its complexity. This process, which has shown an uneven but ascending evolution, in terms of morphology, function and their implications in medical practice, in the spiritual and material life of man, continues today. Neurosurgery is the frontier specialty with Neurology, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Maxillofacial surgery, which has managed to snatch from each of these chapters of pathology, exploration methods and surgical approach, creating its own methods of exploration and diagnosis, technique and specific operator instrumentation, which led to the formation of his own personality. The authors will present one of the great personalities of Romanian neurosurgery, Dr. Constantin Arseni, the descendant of Prof. Dr. Dumitru Bagdasar, who founded it in Bucharest, creating the largest university center of neurosurgery in Europe at that time (1975).
