ESOPHAGEAL SURGERY AT THE CROSSROADS - PAST, PRESENT AND PERSPECTIVES - MINIMALLY INVASIVE ESOPHAGECTOMY
Abstract
If the first author of the editorial represents the past (and perhaps the present), of this difficult type of surgery, the other author (Dr. Florin Achim, university Assistant Professor in the clinic), represents the future of this niche surgery, benefiting from a doctorate with the theme “Minimally invasive surgery of esophageal cancer”, with serious training fellowships working directly with the greatest esophageal surgeons in Germany (Professor Arnulf H. Hölscher and Professor Karl-Hermann Fuchs - Fellowship Grant of The European Association of Endoscopic Surgery(EAES) in Klinik für Allgemein- Viszeral-, und Thoraxchirurgie Agaplesion Markus-Krankenhaus, Frankfurt am Main) with another fellowship in Dublin (Ireland) in St. James Hospital under Professor John Reynolds (President of the European Society of Diseases of the Esophagus- ESDE).
