Abstract

Aim of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of the pre- and post-prosthetic rehabilitation of the prosthetic field status in patients with extensive partial edentulism. Materials and methods: This prospective research was conducted on a cohort of 194 patients (mean age 56.46 years ± 0.738 years). The study group included patients with extensive partial edentulism candidate to removable prosthetic treatment or implant-prosthetic therapy. The evaluation of the prosthetic field status during the pre-treatment stage and at the completion of the pre- and post-prosthetic stages was conducted by quantifying the variables associated with the following clinical-biological indices: general status; dental support; periodontal support; bone support; mucous support; occlusion support; mandibulo-cranial support. Results: Highly significant differences were recorded between primary and secondary clinical-biological indices after pre- and pro-prosthetic treatment. In the study group, 57.7% of cases remained steady, while 34.5% improved by 25%, and 7.7% by 50%. No cases reached a 75% improvement. Conclusions: Significant improvements were observed across most indices, particularly in secondary scores. Clinical indices, such as occlusion and mandibulo-cranial relationships, are the most responsive to pre- and post-prosthetic interventions.
